15 AMP Motor for Improved Performance

The LS1221 has a dynamically balanced 15 AMP direct drive motor with 4,000 RPM for improved performance, and is engineered not to slip or bog down like belt-drive units.

Precise Miter and Bevel Cuts

The LS1221 has a large capacity with a 4-1/2-inch tall pivoting fence for cutting up to 5-1/2-inch crown molding and a pivoting fence for supporting larger stock. The saw has 9 positive miter stops at 15°, 22.5°, 31.6°, and 45° (left or right), and 0° (90° cuts). The precision-machined aluminum base ensures accurate cuts.

Makita LS1221 Conclusion

No oiling available by aluminium cutting processes, means the sawblade will go unsharper in a shorter time. Dangerous situations can happen by using a unsharped saw blade during the cutting process of hard material like aluminium profiles. It is a cheap solution and you only get that kind of quality and security for so much money. It is recommended to use a oil cooling lubricate spray for the sawblade for better cutting results and it is recommended to use two vertical and two horizontal clamps to hold the profile in a stabile way on the machine table during the cutting process of a sawblade which turns with 4000 RPM. Hereby it is also used to cut aluminium profiles with lower RPM, but 4000 is better then Bosch GCM 10 MX Professional , because Bosch using 4800 RPM and this is to fast for hard material like aluminium. So the machine is used more for plastic profiles like upvc not special for aluminium. The small sawblade diameter allows you to cut only small profiles. In contrast to Bosch, makita has a complete protective cap for the saw blade, which offers more safety for the user. The "machine" hobby machine has no belt drive units so it has no deeper cutting deepness during the cutting process.
